Jesuit scored four straight goals in the second half Thursday night en route to an 8-5 victory over Texas' No. 1 ranked team, the Highland Park Scots, at Postell Stadium. With the game tied 4-4 late in the third quarter, Jesuit junior
Zachary Kissick got around his man and fed senior
Sterling Coker, who buried one in the back of the net to give the Rangers a 5-4 lead and permanently change the momentum of the match.
Â
The Scots got on the board first less than two minutes into the contest, but the Rangers responded with three goals of their own in the first quarter, coming from
Luke Hoffman,
Sean Rilley, and
Gavin McClure.
Kyle Casillas added another in the second quarter to give Jesuit a 4-3 lead at the half. Highland Park scored early in the third to tie the game 4-4, and that's when Kissick caught fire.
Â
After his assist to Coker to give the Rangers the lead, Kissick then fed Casillas less than two minutes later to give Jesuit a firm grasp on the game's momentum. Kissick then netted a goal of his own early in the fourth to extend the Ranger lead, which was then complimented by a
Blake Buell goal with eight minutes to play.
Â
The win brings Jesuit to 6-3 against opponents in the state of Texas, as Jesuit
maintains their top ten ranking according to LaxPower. Jesuit now advances to the Texas High School Lacrosse League playoffs, which begin next week.
