Jesuit Golf earned its second ever trip to the UIL State Tournament this season, and competed at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Georgetown, Texas, on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
Â
It's been a hugely successful year for the golf program. The Rangers
won their fifth consecutive District Championship in March and swept all twelve of the district's regional berths. At Regionals, Jesuit used a furious comeback on the back nine to
place second and earn a trip to the state tournament.
Â
This week in Georgetown, Jesuit finished in ninth place in the state with a team total of 633 in two days of action. Â
JC Campbell led the squad by shooting a 78 on Monday and a 73 on Tuesday – a superb round to end his Jesuit career before heading to play golf on a scholarship at the University of Memphis. Junior
Camden Suhy shot 77/80 for a total of 157, sophomore
Martin Breedijk shot 76/86 for a total of 162, junior
Will Peavy shot 78/85 for a total of 163, and junior
Chase Fetrow shot 91/96 for a total of 187.

Jesuit has earned a spot in the UIL State Tournament just once before, in 2008, led by freshman Jordan Spieth. Spieth's Masters victory this year is yet another reason for celebration in the Jesuit Golf program.
Â
The State Top 10 finish is the fourth Jesuit sport to conclude their season among the Top 10 in Texas. Golf joins Hockey (
State Champions), Rugby (
Plate Division State Champions), and Swimming & Diving (
Fifth Place at UIL State Meet) as Jesuit's Top 10 teams. Four more sports are currently ranked or are among the state's top ten: Baseball, Lacrosse, Crew, and Cycling.
