In front of a Wright Field record-crowd of nearly 2,000, nationally-ranked No. 7 Jesuit Dallas (31-2-2) swept the "Tollway Series" against area rival Highland Park with a 5-3 victory on Friday. The win pushes Jesuit to the UIL Regional Semifinals and fourth round of the 6A state playoffs.

It was an ominous start for the Jesuit faithful as Highland Park leadoff hitter Jon Skidmore smacked a fastball deep over the left field wall on the second pitch of the game to give the Scots a 1-0 lead. Will Wessman delivered an RBI single in the third to push the advantage to a pair, but sophomore JJ Montenegro entered in relief and struck out consecutive batters to leave the bags full and mitigate the damage.

Jesuit sliced into the deficit during the home half of the third as Darius Hill plated Chase Jennings with a line-drive single to right.

The Rangers grabbed command of the tilt with an imposing attack in the bottom of the sixth. Hill's lead-off single back through the box was followed by a five-pitch walk to Grant Reuben. Senior Nic Ready followed with an RBI single, while junior Kyle Muller authored a run-scoring double down the left-field line to push the Rangers in front, 3-2. Capping the rally, Bryce Bonner lined a two-run double to right center as Jesuit's lead ballooned to 5-2.

Kyle Robertson added a two-out RBI double in the seventh to get one back for the Scots, but sophomore Jacob Palisch sealed the victory and secured the save with a swinging strikeout.

Montenegro scattered four hits while striking out seven en route to the win. Will Adair took the loss for Highland Park after yielding four earned runs on eight hits in five innings of work.

UPDATE: Saturday, May 23, 2:53 p.m.

The Rangers will play at a site and time to be determined against Lake Travis. The Cavaliers secured a 6-3 victory over The Woodlands College Park on Saturday in the decisive game of its best-of-three series.
